# A build for your organization

One build for your organization: on your servers, or an environment that is only yours. Contact us. The account you sign into today syncs with Forward Layout.

Estimating, construction technology, and IT usually all have to agree. This page is that conversation. You run the build. You do not own the software.

## The build

Forward Layout can be a build for your [Organization](/guides/organizations). You open plans on your computers. We change the software for how you work. The build can carry your name ([white-label](/resources/white-label)).

You run that build. You do not own the software. How updates ship is something we answer when you write.

## Where it runs

On your network, the software and the data run on your servers. Sync stays there.

Single-tenant: we can host an isolated environment for your organization. You still open plans on your computers. Sync stays in that environment. It is not the account anyone can sign into on forwardlayout.com.

## The account you open today

Sign in or [download](/download) and use Forward Layout now. That account syncs with Forward Layout, on Cloudflare. Operators of that environment can access stored plans to support the product. It is not your server.

Sign-in is an email code. SSO and your directory are part of the build, not a setting on this account. The Mac and Windows apps are a window onto the same service as the [browser](/guides/browser-desk-app). They are not an on-premises server. After a Document is open, work continues on that computer if the link drops. That is not the same as your servers.

## Who can open a Project

Access is assigned. People and teams get View, Comment, Edit, or Full control on the Projects they should see ([Project access](/guides/project-access)). A guest can open one Project without joining the company directory ([Project collaborators](/guides/project-collaborators)). Revoke access when the bid is over.

Access and administrative changes are on an append-only audit log an organization admin can read, kept for 365 days. Sign-in, invites, role changes, and document and Project actions are on that log. A measurement on the sheet stays on the Project. It is not a separate line in the log.

A new organization can start with members able to edit Projects. A firm that needs tighter access sets that. [How work is organized](/guides).

## What you can do on the desk

A large plan set [opens and stays smooth while you pan and zoom](/performance), including heavy files. The scale is read when the sheet opens. You measure Length, Polylength, Count, and Area. The Markups List is one list. The CSV keeps the page on every row. [How it works](/how-it-works).

Two people with Edit can measure at the same time. There is no Session to start ([Working together](/guides/working-together-collaboration)).

## Contact us

Email contact@forwardlayout.com. Say what you need the software to do, and where it has to run.

You can [sign in](/sign-in) and open a set today. That account syncs with Forward Layout. The company account is an [Organization](/guides/organizations). White-label is one shape of the [build](/resources/white-label). What a review asks is on [Security](/security).

## FAQ

### Do we own the software?

You run the build. You do not own the software. How updates ship is part of the note you send to contact@forwardlayout.com.

On a build, yes. SSO and your directory are part of that work. They are not a setting on the account you open today. Sign-in there is an email code.

### Who should write the first note?

The person who owns how the team works, and the person who owns where files are allowed to live. Email contact@forwardlayout.com with what the software has to do and where it has to run. [Security](/security) is the list a review usually asks about.
