## Prefer the browser?

Forward Layout runs in Chrome, Edge, or any modern browser. Same desk, same Projects, same markups. A large plan set opens and [stays smooth while you pan and zoom](/performance), in the browser and in the app, including heavy files. They sign in and open the sheet. The Mac and Windows apps are that same desk in a native window, not a server on your network. [Browser desk](/guides/browser-desk-app) and [Working together](/guides/working-together-collaboration). The account syncs with Forward Layout.

## Notes

- **Windows:** Run the .exe installer.
- **Account:** Sign in with the same account you use in the browser. That account syncs with Forward Layout. First launch needs a connection once. After a Document is open, work continues on that computer if the link drops. That is not the same as your servers.
- **A managed install:** A rollout your IT group manages is part of a build for your organization. Contact us. The download on this page is the same service as the browser.
